VaSTiV Dynamic Scheduler schedules dynamically across multiple production and inspection stations. It :
Quickly responds to dynamically changing situations in a manufacturing process by rescheduling, such as in response to a revised manufacturing policy (e.g., more work hours), etc.
Promptly generates new tasks, schedules and production documents
Captures committed factory floor orders with a single mouse-click, if a VaSTiV Order Entry System (highly recommended) is available either locally or at a remotely accessible location (overleaf)
It utilizes a six step process cycle :
Optimize Production - Dynamic Scheduler utilizes Late Bound Knowledge (overleaf) to optimize production of Factory Orders
Determine Shipment Package by Factory Orders - Dynamic Scheduler examines the status of Factory Orders for the entire Fulfillment Term and determines shipment packages
Determine the Schedule by Shipment Package - Dynamic Scheduler estimates the times required by each Shipment Package and integrates the production capacity planning knowledge into the previous knowledge to determine the best statistical fit for the planned work into the estimated work time for the day
Determine Workdays - Dynamic Scheduler determines dates in a perpetual calendar based on the number of workdays in the planned workweek, adjusting the workweek for holidays whenever applicable
Assign Daily Schedule by Customer by Shipment Package - With known holidays, Dynamic Scheduler determines the available workday dates and assigns committed orders to a daily schedule according to the available production capacity
Post Promised Delivery Dates - Dynamic Scheduler notes and arranges each committed order in a prioritized rational manner; determines daily production plan in compliance with work policy; and assigns the available workday dates according to the available production capacity. Dynamic Scheduler completes the scheduling cycle by posting the assigned workday dates as Promised Delivery Dates for the schedule publication
Sophisticated Reports
Reports are customized in the field with Late Bound Knowledge without impacting the executable, and are dynamic, i.e., contain new information after every dynamically generated schedule. THREE (3) types of reports are available :
Management Plans
Assigned Production Dates - Publishes the top level optimized Production Schedule Dates
Production Plan - Indicates daily production in Product Quantity and estimated time for each day. Also includes planned monthly production quantity
Daily Production Schedule by Shipment Package Box - Indicates Shipment Package Box number for each customer, Production Quantity by type in each box, and estimated duration time of Production for the entire work day
Packing Slip by Shipment Package - Includes Product Quantity by each line item for each Shipment Package. Also includes Product Description. Line item detail is fully synchronized with build list
Shipment Package Labels by each Package - Also dynamic, i.e. change(s) with new information, fully synchronized with corresponding Packing Slips and Run lists
Shipment Status and Authority to Ship - Dynamically keeps track of each shipment of filled orders
Production Movement Slip - Provides for recording Shipment Package flow through the facility
Ease of Use
The VaSTiV Dynamic Scheduler offers several unique power-packed features to enhance usability :
Hints. Are immediately displayed as non-persistent yellow labels, as the mouse pointer hovers over any picture or a normal button control. Hints also answer the usually vexing question "What does this icon do? " Event driven processing is accomplished through these two types of controls and Hints are always available
Status Bar
Late Bound Dialogs.
Late Bound Knowledge. After Dynamic Scheduler is installed and operational, huge chunks of knowledge may be added to provide an unprecedented mainframe class power from a desktop personal computer. This knowledge is NOT compiled into the executable but stored in simple external files for subsequent incorporation when the executable is running. The external files may be modified by utilizing Notepad, Microsoft Office Professional or a similar tool. A power user may incorporate fairly sophisticated changes to make Dynamic Scheduler look like a customized product specifically designed for the ONE and ONLY customer, without impacting the executable
The Hints and Status Bar features minimize the operator training and reduce the required skill level for operations. Late Bound knowledge also provides the ease of changes in operating policies in the field, without impacting the underlying executable. (i.e., reduces operating costs because no heavy technical support from VaSTiV is required for the inevitable day to day policy changes.)
Companion Product
VaSTiV Order Entry System SM (VOESys SM) transforms incoming orders into manufacturable Factory Floor Orders. VOESys may be installed on a remote personal computer, yet it provides a Direct Multi-Channel Data Pipe to VaSTiV Dynamic Scheduler. The Data Pipe enables the Factory Floor Orders to be captured into VaSTiV Dynamic Scheduler with a single mouse-click from a remote location, i.e., over a Local Area Network (LAN).
