VaSTiV Products are engineered for use in the field and are particularly suitable for worldwide operations. It is NOT economical to have all field queries worldwide to be handled at the home office. VaSTiV Products put together the necessary knowleddge enriched tools to help your operations run more smoothly. All VaSTiV products also offer the following unique features to enhance usability:

  • · Hints. Are immediately displayed as nonpersistent yellow labels, as the mouse pointer hovers over any picture button control or a normal button control. Hints also answer the usually vexing question "What does this icon do?" Almost all of the event driven processing is accomplished through these two types of controls and Hints are always provided, without asking.

    · Status Bar. Is always at the bottom of the active display screen. You will find how-to-proceed-to-the-next-step, current status, etc., displayed here.

    · Late Bound Dialogs. Files with the extension .vst can be updated in the field without affecting the operation of a VaSTiV Product. These files contain all the messages, nonpersistent yellow hints, and all the labels used by a VaSTiV Product. Most of the international language translation is feasible in the field because of this methodology. The executable is unaffected because of late binding. "On-the-fly" changes are not only feasible, but convenient.

    · Late Bound Knowledge. Since the .ini information files are simple text files, they can be modified under certain circumstances, by utilizing Notepad or a similar tool. A System Administrator now can change paths, and to some extent other sections, at one’s convenience. A knowledgeable professional can make fairly sophisticated changes in the behavior of a VaSTiV Product, without impacting the executable. However, as a precaution, it is prudent to pre-clear significant changes to this file with VaSTiV technical staff. Send us a copy of this file over the Internet (support@vastiv.com).     The Hints and Status Bar features minimize operator training. Late Bound Knowledge provides ease of changes in operating policies in the field without impacting the underlying executable. Late Bound Knowledge reduces operating costs because no heavy technical support from VaSTiV is required for the day to day policy changes.
